Reporter of Buzzfeed, reporting from Saint Thomas, US Virgin Islands, Brianna Sacks in her article, "This Is What It's Like For Thousands Trying To Find Food And Water In The Hurricane-Hit US Virgin Islands," implies that parents in the Virgin Islands are struggling to feed themselves and dependent ones, like children and elders. Sacks uses simple, but yet sorrowful words, such as "uninhabitable", "at-risk", and "worthless", to justify the repulsive state that many Virgin Island residents are currently living in.She supports her claim by first stating a quote from Virgin Island resident that has pessimistic thoughts, '"I feel we were given false hope," one resident said as she waited hours in line for food. "You hear that it's going to get better, but today I still had to struggle to be able to feed my kids."' This individual has lost hope for recovery since the government just stating that things will get better but not actually doing anything for the citizens, like providing an adequate number of food for them. Then, Sacks uses an example of a family that has been impacted so devastating, that has absolutely nothing, so they depend on the government food, that is junk food, so the mother worries about her and her children's health since she knows that they have only been eating unhealthy items. After, Sacks uses logos to inform the audience about the Virgin Island's poverty level ,"35% of children on the US Virgin Islands live in families with incomes below the federal poverty level and a majority of them receive government benefits...".There are 35% of children's families in the Virgin Island that are already economically struggling prior to the natural disasters and needed government help in order to survive. Finally, she provides more examples of Virgin Island residents that are having a challenging time to survive and how they think the government is doing a dissatisfactory job in the situation. Sacks' purpose is to explain in order to have the audience, which are probably individuals outside the Virgin Islands that have electricity, to be aware of the dreadful conditions the residents of the Virgin Island are currently in and how the government is doing a unsuitable job. She establishes a gloomy tone for people outside the Virgin Island to have a peak of what is actually happening and the unpleasant situations and challenges the residents of the Virgin Island face. https://www.buzzfeed.com/briannasacks/this-is-what-its-like-for-thousands-trying-to-find-food-and?utm_term=.cizQ48bdO#.phK7rQvL6
